Participation at all costs! At Hyde Park we pride ourselves on what can only be described as a culture of participation. As a school with only 735 pupils, we find ourselves challenging the bigger schools with ease and in many cases exceeding their standards.
Our sporting codes run across the board and cater to the vast majority of traditional sports men and women. We can confidently state that whilst we have seen several sporting codes challenged by a national level of apathy, we have once again grown these sports into significant entities that rival the levels of participation of yesteryear. Our dedicated team of coaches and staff look to advance each code in a manner that allows for personal growth of our youngsters ensuring that whilst winning is all important; it does not dominate the culture of our practices.
We have a dedicated Sports Development Office (SDO) with two full time staff members who continually look at advancing sport at the school. A priority this year is communication and as such our website has developed into a mine of information allowing all parents and children to plan accordingly. Keeping up to date is now easy and we encourage our parents to use this facility continually.
It is with pride I note that whilst so many of our traditional competitors struggle against a culture of non-participation, we find ourselves overwhelmed by the commitment levels of our youngsters. It is this culture that makes this school a great place to grow up. From the SDO to the members of our community we look forward to developing sport so that your child can experience the true value of this vital component of our society and country.
Sport gives our learners an opportunity to gain skills and values that will be of benefit to them throughout their lives. Sport develops a sense of team work, a pride in one’s school and sportsmanship.
